I was at a total loss. After a year of trying everything I could think of, I was still heartbroken, anxiety-ridden and re-evaluating everything I had ever thought about myself, the world and my spiritual practice. I had tried logic, shamanic healing sessions, self-help books, new diet, exercise, trips to visit friends and family, meditation, prayer, “moving on”….. and the usual day to day was fine, even happy- but in those quiet moments, those times when I should be able to relax- like first thing in the morning, right before falling asleep, driving…the pain and confusion would slam into me, catch me off guard and break me down. I was even getting physically ill to the point that it impacted my ability to work and be social. All of this over a relationship that never really happened. Logically, this experience shouldn’t have even phased me, was nothing new to me and was a relatively mundane situation. I was constantly amazed and embarrassed at how this wasn’t going away. But every piece of me ached and was freaking out at the lack of control I had over my reaction to this. I call this type of experience “Soul Sickness”.
Finally, I called a friend who practices hypnotherapy and scheduled a session. I had only tried it out of curiosity one time a few years before and the results were unexpected and life changing. But this time, I had a specific situation I wanted to address. My session was intense, but my guides appeared and put so much effort into protecting me during the process. The story that came forward so clearly explained the dynamic between myself and this other person. It was sad, painful and I was only shown parts of it so that I wouldn’t be overwhelmed by it. After the session, I finally felt less “crazy” and frustrated with the way the past year had gone. I finally felt empowered. I had a story I could work with, something that gave me a “reason” to be having these uninvited emotions, thoughts and physical reactions that would pop up. With all that, something in me because able to let it go. It had been seen, acknowledged, accepted and loved. It was free.
For another year, I would find some remnants of this experience arise in me to be seen- a trigger. As I worked through layers of healing this wounded part of my soul, I would go into meditation and revisit the scenes from my hypnotherapy session. I would work with the story-change it, one time I placed guardians there to protect me from being hurt. I would take meaningful objects from my experience with this person and send them to people and places in the story to take their energy and power out of this time and place. I would change my reactions and characteristics in the story. Through all of this- I healed. It has been 7 years since I’ve been triggered by this experience. Even when I got a message out of nowhere from this person, an apology of sorts, I was so neutral and even able to send kindness their way.
Since then, I’ve researched and trained on multiple methods of spiritual hypnotherapy. I’ve had the tremendous joy of facilitating hypnotherapy healing experiences and watching people transform in an instant. Witnessing these ‘Aha!” Moments, sometimes several of them within each session, peeling away the layers of our soul wounds to create healing and a better path forward in this human experience.
People often ask what hypnosis is. Hypnosis is simply a deeply meditative state. In my sessions with clients, we start with a guided meditation to help you access the deeper parts of your subconscious mind. I also play Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls throughout the session to help your brain maintain the Theta wave state. These sacred frequencies and their magical energy provide amazing support for this journey into the parts of you that can see the “Big Picture”. Our request is to bring forward information to help you in the very best way that we can. The invitation is to allow whatever comes forward in your awareness and to speak it out loud without processing it. You have the ability to edit, rationalize and halt the experience completely. To gain the most benefit from the session, we wait until after the session to analyze because there is often a pattern that can be seen after the session is over which wouldn’t be clear in the middle of a session.
There is no limit to what the Subconscious or Higher Self can bring forward. It could be what people consider a past life (a story where the characters are in another time and place than now). It could be present life memories, stories on another planet, healing chambers in heaven, beautiful colors dancing around you, a meeting with someone in your current life, even experiencing life as an object like stars, plants or animals. The invitation is to not get caught up in the story itself, but instead with the meaning that comes from it. For example, people who feel abandoned and lonely in this lifetime often experience stories where they lived in large families with loving communities, often visiting their “soul family” or a place where they feel they come from and learning why they are here now. People who feel they’ve had a stressful, hard life often experience a story where they had a happy, simple, easy life. By connecting to these stories and feeling yourself in them, it alters something. It’s like it fills this gap in your being, fills in that piece of the puzzle that once seemed like a hole in our soul. You can complete unfinished business and clear away old ideas around who you are and how the world works.
Throughout time, humans have been fascinated by the human experience and tried to understand it- felt this call to apply greater meaning to being alive and the situations, feelings and relationships we find ourselves in. Much of this learning has happened through story, whether it was through parables, folk tales, fairy tales, novels, newspapers, movies, plays and even reality television. Through other people’s stories we can take ideas and inspirations that give meaning to our own experiences. In this same way, the stories that arise during a hypnotherapy session are healing.
